How the review score works

We keep it simple and open, so you know exactly what to improve:

  • Star rating — up to 45 points. 3.5 stars or lower scores 0; 4.9 or higher scores the full 45.
  • Number of reviews — up to 35 points. Compared with a typical similar business near you (or 100 reviews if we can't find any).
  • Rank against nearby competitors — up to 20 points. How many of them you beat on review count and on rating.

80 or more is Excellent, 60–79 Good, 40–59 Needs work, and under 40 At risk.

Why your competitors' reviews matter

When someone searches “dentist near me” or “best pizza in town”, they compare the businesses side by side — stars, number of reviews and how recent they are. Being a little better than the business next door often matters more than being perfect.

How to improve your review score

  1. Make asking easy: print a QR review sign and send a short text after each visit.
  2. Ask every customer, the same way — never only the happy ones.
  3. Reply to every review within a day or two. Our reply generator makes it quick.
  4. Check your score again in a month and see how far you've moved.

Frequently asked questions

Is this Google's official review score?

No. Google doesn't publish a score. This is ReplyBird's own score out of 100, built from public Google Maps data with a simple formula we explain on this page.

Where does the data come from?

Your star rating and review count, and those of similar businesses near you, come from Google Maps' public data at the moment you run the check.

Why can't I see my reply rate or how fast I respond?

Google doesn't share owner replies publicly through its data. When you connect your Business Profile in ReplyBird, we can show your reply rate, response time and how both change month to month.

Can I check a competitor?

Yes. Any business listed on Google Maps can be checked — it's all public information.

How can I raise my score quickly?

Ask every customer for a review with a direct link or QR code, and reply to every review. Most businesses gain more from a steady flow of new reviews than from anything else.
